For band exercise sessions, I built various presets Zoom B1X FOUR. It runs into a Fender Rumble 200 with every amp knob at 12 o’clock and Contour, Bright and Vintage off, so all the tone shaping happens in the pedal. As example, I am showing three basic patterns.

Group 1: Clean & Atmospheric

Soft compression, gentle EQ, no drive, and just a hint of space.

Comp → Graphic EQ → Preamp → Reverb

BlockSettings
Compressor (160 Comp)Threshold -16 / Ratio 3.0 / Knee SOFT / Vol 90
Graphic EQ50 Hz +2 / 120 Hz +2 / 400 Hz +1 / 500 Hz 0 / 800 Hz -1 / 4.5k -2 / 10k -4 / Vol 95
Preamp (Bass Pre)Bass 6 / Mid +1 / Treble 4 / Vol 100
Reverb (Air)Size 20 / Reflections 3 / Mix 8 / Tail OFF

Expression pedal: Volume 80 → 100.

Group 2: Punchy Everyday

This is the tone I reach for most. It’s tight, clean and mid-forward.

Comp → Graphic EQ → Preamp

BlockSettings
Compressor (160 Comp)Threshold -14 / Ratio 3.0 / Knee HARD / Vol 90
Graphic EQ50 Hz 0 / 120 Hz +1 / 400 Hz -2 / 500 Hz +1 / 800 Hz +2 / 4.5k +1 / 10k -1 / Vol 95
Preamp (Bass Pre)Bass 5 / Mid +3 / Treble 6 / Vol 100

Expression pedal: Volume 75 → 100.

Group 3: Drive

Hard-knee compression, a tame EQ, and the drive doing the heavy lifting.

Comp → Graphic EQ → Overdrive

BlockSettings
Compressor (160 Comp)Threshold -18 / Ratio 3.5 / Knee HARD / Vol 90
Graphic EQ50 Hz +1 / 120 Hz +1 / 400 Hz 0 / 500 Hz +1 / 800 Hz +1 / 4.5k +1 / 10k -2 / Vol 90
Overdrive (BassTsDRV)Gain 25 / Tone 40 / Balance 40 / Vol 100

Expression pedal: Volume 75 → 100.

Where to start

Edit everything in Zoom’s Guitar Lab over USB, and back up your patches before every gig.

Happy bassing!
