LinkedIn is one of the bigger social networks. Many people, companies, and organizations are around and publish digital content to a large user community.
As usual, the algorithms of digital platforms kick in, and the information feed gets bigger and bigger. What used to be interesting and helpful has become a huge pile of digital garbage.
Now it is time to take back some control.
Please find a set of instructions to remedy the situation. It mostly a click adventure, but it is worth it.
Part 1: One-time or regular cleanup of “My Network”
- Connections: Think about removing connections.
- Following & followers: Make sure that this list only contains proper content providers.
- Pages: Same here, do you really want to see all this in your timeline?
- Groups: Think about leaving groups.
- Newsletters: Just unsubscribe.
Part 2: Default sorting of posts in your feed
- Often, LinkedIn is set up to show you the most “relevant posts” first.
- You can change this in your account preferences under “General preferences” –> “Preferred feed view” to “most recent posts”.
Part 3: Keep going and unfollow
- Feed: If you see a post and starting to scroll rightaway, think about unfollowing the person/organization.
PS: You should also conduct a roundtrip through your other LinkedIn settings.
